Canada Summer Jobs
Canada Summer Jobs is a unique funding initiative to help employers create summer job opportunities for students and will be launched on December 5, 2016.
When will the application process be launched?
Beginning December 5, 2016, Canada Summer Jobs applications will be available at Service Canada Centres and online at servicecanada.gc.ca/csj. Applications must be submitted by January 20, 2017. Employers will be able to complete and submit their applications online, by mail or in person (note that faxed applications are not accepted).
To support employers, the Canada Summer Jobs Applicant Guide for 2017 will also be available online at the start of the application period. This guide provides instructions on filling out an application, eligibility requirements, and assessment criteria.
Why is the application period different than last year?
The 2015 federal election and the changes in the electoral boundaries impacted the program application dates for CSJ 2016. For CSJ 2017, we are going back to an earlier application date as previous years to ensure employers are notified early for post-secondary recruitment. Given the earlier launch and application deadline this year, MPs are invited and encouraged to communicate the CSJ 2017 application dates to employers in their constituencies.
What if employers in my constituency need help with their application?
If employers have specific questions about applications, MPs are asked to direct those enquiries to Service Canada officials, who will be available to provide clarification and assistance. Employers can get information by contacting 1-800-935-5555.
